Hey, check it out! Our packing tape Nativity installation made the Gazette!

This was part of the December Artwalk, and my students put on an exhibit of not only the packing tape Nativity scene, but also a variety of pieces done throughout the first semester. It was a huge success-- we had a lot of visitors and people seemed to enjoy the art. They had a lot of great things to say about the other venues, as well! I didn't get to check them out, but I know that there are always lots of great things to see during Artwalk.

Maybe we'll do another artwalk in February -- remember, it's always the 3rd Thursday of each month, unless otherwise noted on the website. There will be no artwalk in January.

Packing Tape Sculpture Howto Video

This is a little howto video I made for this project to use in future years, because it's easier to understand how these work if you watch someone else do it.

The kids have had a blast putting these together. You can see 10 installations in the video, and there are still 4 more to be completed. The kids are getting a lot of positive feedback from everyone at the school.

Our First Packing Tape Sculpture

My students have been making packing tape sculptures a la Mark Jenkins for a schoolwide installation to create awareness of the new recycling bins. The first one got finished this morning. This one's titled "Dive Into Recycling" by my 2nd period class.

I think it's awesome!
